FabCalendar Note

The Azeroth Calendar here uses the After Dark Portal (ADP) system, where Year 0 marks the Dark Portal’s opening, and Year 20 ADP aligns with the Culling of Stratholme during the Third War. The current year is 40 ADP (or 6840 Y.S, Years of the Sunwell). Lina'ven was 508 before the Scourging of Quel'thalas, with her birth year being 488 Before Dark Portal (BDP) or 6312 (Y.S.).

The Northern Kingdom's custom months (e.g., Springtide for March, and Verdantfall for August) overlay this timeline.

Biography

Lina'ven Sunglare, or just commonly known as Lina'ven (or Lina) came from a rich and noble family in Southern Quel'thalas (Ghostlands) known as House Sunglare. They were active for over two millenia, and their golden age was after the Troll Wars. The noble House had influential arcanists, leyline analyzers, enchanters, and they were in the jewelcrafting, rare ore & mineral, and enchanting markets in the Southern regions too, which is how they obtained their wealth. While they primarily held influence over part of Southern Quel'thalas, they had a seat in Silvermoon's noble circle, and influence in the surrounding areas of the city - even if they didn't dabble too much into politics.

After Lina'ven was born into the family lineage in 488 BDP (or 6312 Y.S. in the Thalassian calendar), she worked at her family's Enchanting and Jewelcrafting shop in Tranquillien in her early years, and enjoyed a privileged and comfortable lifestyle that her Houses' well over nine-figure income can afford. Even if she didn't get along with some of her siblings, she had good relations with her parents, and did whatever to make them proud. She was eventually sent to Silvermoon to learn arcane magic and become an arcanist, and potentially even the rank of Magister. She attended special classes, and had special and talented tutors and mentors paid for by the deep pockets of House Sunglare. Things went smoothly and were largely uneventful for the next 230 years, where Lina became a Arcanist and was on the path to become a Magister for the Silvermoon Magisters.

300 years ago Lina'ven's parents, the Lord and Lady of House Sunglare disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Members of the family and the House, along with Lina, were devestated and shocked. Especially since the House was now missing a Lord or Lady, or a guiding figure. Lina left Silvermoon and the Magisters to return home to the Houses' estate. Despite numerous and extensive investigation by authorities, no cause was found, and no perpetrators were caught either. Lina believes this was foul play, potentially politically motivated and was no normal disapearance, but Silvermoon shut down investigations quickly after not finding anything of note. Lina quit the Magisters for good, and continued to reside in Southern Quel'thalas. She fell into a slight state of depression, and avoided the public eye as she grieved the disappearance of her parents. However despite her broken heart, she still continued to master the magical arts, just without the help of Silvermoon or the Magisters. While she remained close to the estate - she traveled around Quel'thalas and beyond, looking around libraries and forgotten nooks for tomes of the arcane, forgotten techniques and teachings, and eventually forbidden magic.

There was a lot of internal debate and struggle over who will take over the House, because of the Lord and Ladies' untimely disappearance (presumed death) - there was especially a power struggle between Lina'ven and her siblings. Eventually it was determened Lina'ven was the rightful inheritor of the estate and its' assets, and she was pronounced as Lady Sunglare. Lina tried her best to manage the House in her parents' stead, however she was very uncertain and a little worried at first. She was anxious that she wouldnt live up her to parents' expecations, especially since this is a monumentous responsibility that suddely fell on her shoulders. She struggled quite a lot in the beginning, but with support from a couple close friends, she made it through her grieving and difficult times running House Sunglare.

During this time, and despite her new responsibility leading the House, she still focused on her magical studies and goal in becoming a powerful spellcaster like her parents' would've wanted her to. She eventually also discovered the existance of shadow magic, which she took a liking to and was infatuated with. So she secretly began to learn this new magic and this was her first steps in becoming a shadowmancer (and eventually a warlock). It was mostly because of her internal struggles, her parents suspicious disappearance, and her growing dislike of the Magisters that she persued dark magic - as well as a desire to become even stronger. Gradually becoming a proficent and advanced arcane & shadow mage.

During the events of the First War Lina didn't think much of the war going on in the human kindom far South. It wasn't until she looked deeper into events - and how it was aliens from a far off planet invading the kingdom with demonic magic that her interest was piqued.

Roleplay History

  • ((Roleplay history with Lina'ven started in early-mid 2020, during the second-last quarter of the Battle for Azeroth expansion. Has some fanon related lore.))
  • Lina'ven was returning to her estate after killing and getting the bodies of murlocs on the coast of the Ghostlands to use in her rituals. Despite the Fourth War going on, and being aligned with the Horde and the Sin'dorei, she couldn't care less about the conflict - and wanted to stay neutral and independant. She would only enter if it threatened the safety of Quel'thalas. When she was almost home, a strange portal opened nearby and two kul tirans popped out, one male and one female. Before she could react, the female viciously and brutally murdered the male, and that's when Lina knew something was wrong. After a quick battle Lina'ven subdues the kul tiran, and brings her to a magically warded cell under her estate (in the prison). After interrogating and divining information out of the kul tiran, Lina determined that she was called Alpia, and she's a malevolent drust spirit out for revenge against kul tirans, and somehow got transported to the Ghostlands from Kul Tiras.
  • Alpia was kept in the cell for weeks as Lina uncovered more information, and Alpia was under watch with Lina's demons. She found out the drust spirit took over a kul tiran's body, and the original soul was still trapped in the body. So Lina extracted the original kul tiran's soul with dark magic and placed her in a soul shard, then the soul explained who she is. She's Julia Sterntide, the daughter of Angus Sterntide who Alpia killed. Sometime later when Lina was away, Alpia was secretly using drust magic to weaken the wards of the cell, until eventually she phased right through it. A chase ensued between the demon guarding her and Alpia, but she was eventually able to run out of the underground prison. She was stopped by a powerful barrier around the prison building on the surface, and that's when Lina confronted her, however Alpia used a powerful drust spell to break the barrier leading to her to teleport away to Thros.
  • Inbetween this time Lina'ven joined an organization that focused on nurturing diplomatic and peaceful relations between the different factions of Azeroth, mainly the Alliance and Horde. It was something that seemed promising to Lina because she didn't like the constant fighting and conflicts with the Horde and Alliance, thinking it's very foolish and pointless. However with some pressure from the Silvermoon government, Lina'ven slowly withdrew from the guild - because this was in the middle of the faction war.
  • Lina'ven Pre-Void (Legion-Shadowlands) [AI]
Lina'ven eventually tracked Alpia down in Kul Tiras, and she brought Julia's soul with her to get her body back. On the way they met a tidesage called Leshthiria the Greater, who Lina learns is a friend of Julia. There was a brief misunderstanding when Leshthiria saw Julia's soulshard, but the soul de-escalated things after she explained the situation. Leshthiria joins Lina'ven in hunting for Alpia, and they eventually track her down to an abandoned port. Lina fights the drust spirit, with the tidesage and Lina's trusted voidwalker helping her, where she manages to beat Alpia out of Julia's body. Before Lina had a chance to capture Alpia's soul, a harpy sorcerer (named Shar) and her army appears and saves Alpia's soul. The army overwhelms Lina and so she had to erect a barrier around herself and Leshthiria, eventually having to teleport everyone away, including Julia's body. Everyone except for the voidwalker, who she assumed they would kill. After teleporting everyone to safety, Lina'ven transfers Julia's soul back to her body, and Julia and Leshthiria reunite in person. They thank Lina'ven for her help.
  • What Lina didn't know was that her voidwalker wasn't killed and sent back to the Void, but was instead captured by Shar. He was easily persuaded to give up information on Lina'ven in exchange for being set free, which was a huge betrayal for Lina'ven who thought the voidwalker was her most trusted warlock demon ("Demon" in quotes, since Voidwalkers aren't technically demons). Lina'ven went back to the spot where Angus was killed and where his body was and used soul magic to bring his soul back temporarily from the Shadowlands, where he explained what happened prior to exiting the portal, and information on Alpia, and how much of a threat she is to Kul Tiras. Lina'ven promised the man she'd deal with the drust spirit. From this point on Lina and Alpia became bitter and brutal rivals, and they considered each other their worst enemy - their arch-nemsis. They faced off multiple times, while Shar helped Alpia in the background (until Shar was eventually banished to the Shadowlands by Ellienore and Nashlette sometime before Frostwane 35 ADP).
  • Sometime later, Lina'ven had thoughts about restoring her House, House Sunglare. She still has her wealth she inherited from the House, however many aspects were still in disrepair. The estate wasn't ready for guests or the public eye as she's been using it as her personal estate where she practices her warlock magic and her rituals. And she's the only one left of her House/family that stayed behind. Plus other issues that needed to be addressed to restore House Sunglare. So after careful consideration, she joined and partnered with another noble House, House Eversun (I forgot the actual name...) located in Eversong, in exchange for them giving aid to rebuilding her own House. She joined their spellcasting division, and quickly found out she'd be working under a Magister, which greatly infuriated Lina'ven. And the two quickly became rivals, and at point they almost fought each other, but they were stopped before it got out of hand. In Silvermoon City she met and became acquainted with a curious vulpera monk, Hikarion Ashi. And despite their very different viewpoints, they considered each other friends.
  • A month before Frostwane 35 ADP, Lina'ven was in the Northern Barrens for some business when she encountered a curious someone. She met Swiftroot, a botani tribe leader that resides in the Barrens. They fled Alternate Draenor when the Lightforge attacked, and they sought refugee in our Azeroth. As the two talked, Lina could feel something wasn't right with him. He wasn't evil, but he had strong disdain towards other races for their treatment of wildlife. He had a more traditional and archaic view of life, and Lina'ven disagreed a lot with him. Eventually things got too heated, and Lina annoyed Swiftroot too much, so he lashed out and told her to leave. Lina'ven was a little spiteful and petty with Swiftroot so she attacked the tribe leader, however he was a tougher opponent than she thought, and he was resistant to Lina's fel magic too. So she soon fled, and Swiftroot vowed to make Lina'ven an enemy of the tribe.
    Lina'ven Pre-Void (Vanilla-Legion) [AI]
  • Later on Lina'ven returned to the Barrens, this time with Hikarion who agreed to help take on Swiftroot, and found a small grove where the botani tribe leader was in. Using invisibility to sneak through undetected, they found tauren (mainly Grimtotem) kept as slaves, bound and mind controlled with nature magic to tend to the grove. Eventually they confront Swiftroot, where after another argument Lina'ven, Hikari, Ek'bahar (her Shivara demon), and her felhound attack him. Lina primarily used shadow magic to attack Swiftroot, and Hikarion's physical and chi-based attacks were effective. The fight ended when Hikari used a powerful chi-based move, which nearly one shot Swiftroot; the tribe leader barely survived. Lina and Hikari teleport to the Ghostlands with Swiftroot, where she places him in the warded holding cell of her prison.
  • A few days go by as Lina'ven decides on what to do with Swiftroot. Hikarion suggested they get the Cenarion Circle involved and have them take him, because this is better suited towards them, and Lina reluctantly agreed. So Lina got in contact with the CC, and they sent two representatives down to the estate. Lina argued Swiftroot is a danger to nature and those who live in Azeroth. However before Swiftroot could be handed over to the Cenarions, the estate was attacked by an army of strong aliens who look like demons and come from the Twisting Nether called the Nasir. It turns out the botani were allied to these Nasir on Azeroth, and the Nasir aided the struggling botani. The Nasir were relentless in their fight to free Swiftroot. And a notable Nasir was their powerful general, Apricot. The creatures were too strong and quickly overwhelmed Nashlette and the representatives. Lina was knocked unconscious along with one representative. The other pleaded for his and his sister's life to be spared, which they agreed. So the Nasir took Lina and Swiftroot back to the Barrens where they imprisoned Lina.
  • The Nasir attempted to torture information out of Lina, and left her rotting in an underground chamber. The Nasir were deeply connected to life and nature energies like the botani, so Lina was slowly being eaten by the nature around her. After a while, she gathered enough strength to call upon the Void, who granted her a swift death - and corrupted the life around the underground chambers as a final "fuck you". She was revived back at her estate with her soulstone, however her body was destroyed when she killed herself. So she created a temporary body to be in using dark magic.
  • Her new body didn't have the void taint her original body had, so she didn't need to cover her arms or face anymore. At this point she started to realize the situation she was in. She made a lot of enemies, and a lot of powerful enemies too. Along with her arch-nemesis Alpia, she also had to worry about Swiftroot and his botani, and the Nasir. And they knew where she lived, so she was still in danger. And this worried her, a lot, to the point she became paranoid and fearful. She knew she didn't have the strength to face them, but she didn't want to ask her guildmates for help. She was on her own... but there was one person she could call. Previously, she procured a special tome from an Ethereal trader, and in this book was a ritual to traveling to a void corrupted world, and a powerful artifact that was held there. And she had plans to go there.
  • Lina'ven Pre-Third War [AI]
She traveled across Azeroth to create items to help survive the atmospheric conditions in the Void, and she gathered the required reagents for the ritual. She asked her friend Hikarion who agreed to go on this mission with her. Sometime before all this, with the help of creatures of the Void, she teleported her whole estate to a purgatory-like area linked between Azeroth and the Void to hide herself from the Nasir & Botani. The mission was to go to X'lygari, a planet that was corrupted and consumed by the Voidlords ages ago, that's infested with void corruption and Old Gods warring against each other, to find a powerful artifact called the Void Shard: a relic that was the cause of the world's destruction by the Void, and had the potential to destroy worlds, and wipe out entire armies. Lina did the ritual and opened a gateway to X'lygari. There, she and Hikari witnessed what a world completely taken over by the Void is like; she saw armies of dangerous void creatures fighting each other, along with large Old Gods warring against one another for dominance in a planet devoid of normal life. They would've been dead if it weren't for the Void talismans Lina created. After traveling for what seemed like hours, they found where the Void Shard is. It was being protected by a large Wild God, Kharn, the last protector of his world.
  • Lina attempted to take the Void Shard without him noticing, but when she interacted with it (not even touching it), she was immediately overwhelmed and infused with the immense power of the Shard, to the point her body couldn't handle it anymore and instantaneously (and brutally) exploded. But she didn't die; her soul was infused with copious amounts of Void energy, and the Shard prevented her soul from leaving the plane of the living. She became a sort of void aberration instead of a humanoid (she isn't counted as undead though). The Wild God saw this and tried to attack Lina and Hikari, but Hikari, being a pacifist who usually tries to talk before resorting to violence, tried talking to the Wild God. The Wild God, still enraged, asked for the Shard back, but Lina'ven was stubborn and refused to give it up. She went through all the trouble to get it; from doing the ritual to even losing her body and becoming void corrupted. She couldn't return home empty handed, not with her enemies still looming. And, it seemed the Shard was calling out to Lina'ven... the Shard didn't want to leave Lina either. The Wild God still wanted to attack Lina, and Hikari pleaded with her, but she still wouldn't give up. Soon a chase ensued between Lina, and Kharn and Hikari; with Lina using all the tricks at her disposal to get to the portal before they did. Eventually her soul bolted through the portal where she destroyed the connection, leaving Hikari (who sided with Kharn because of Lina's actions and refusing to give up the Shard) and the Wild God stranded on the other side.
  • After returning home, she was coping with the betrayal of Hikarion, which hit her hard. Even more so after being consumed by Void energy which enhanced her negative thoughts and emotions. All that was left of her was her soul, which turned a deep purple from Void corruption. The whispers and corruption she was dealing with was the same level Alleria had to deal with at first, if not more because of the Void Shard. She was in the Ghostlands, struggling to keep her sanity from the Shard's influence, as the Void corruption quickly ate at her mind. She knew the destruction she'd cause would be catastrophic, but, all alone and with no one to turn to, she feared for the worst. Until a fateful encounter with a Ren'dorei spy changed that. With no choice but to accept her help, she reluctantly traveled to Telogrus Rift where the Ren'dorei helped Lina'ven control her Void corruption, and learn the teachings of the Locus-Walker to suppress the whispers of the Shard. Over time she learned to control the Void empowering her soul and control the Void Shard. With her innate Void energy, she has greater mastery over void and shadow magic unlike ever before, and her power is amplified with the Void Shard, which she forges into the Shard Scepter. She created a new body resembling her old one using the Shard's power. She bleeds a bluish purple void substance, has resistance to shadow magic and pain, and she cannot truly die unless you destroy her soul or release it. However Holy energy harms her, and she takes damage from holy healing because of her void corruption.
  • Sometime after the time the Helm of Domination shattered (a month or two in) she returned to the Barrens to deal with two of her enemies that were still a threat to her, with her newfound powers. She infiltrated the Botani's home deep in the Wailing Caverns, where Swiftroot and the Nasir general (and her army) were found. After a brief confrontation with the two, she unleashes the power of the Void Shard - quickly wiping out the Nasir's army and the Botani, including Swiftroot and Apricot in one spell. The entire Botani tribe was wiped out in less than 10 seconds, as well as the army of Nasir stationed in the caverns. Lina was incredibly satisfied with her revenge (regardless if you think it was petty or cruel or not), and returned to her estate after confirming Swiftroot and Apricot were dead. However there was still one last enemy that stood in Lina's way - Alpia. By this time, Alpia had grown incredibly powerful and ascended into "minor-godhood", with a cult following her that increases her power whenever she is worshipped.
  • Lina'ven wasn't totally in the clear yet, because she figured the remaining Nasir would likely retaliate for killing their General. Along with the potential return of Hikarion and Kharn, she decided to relocate her estate again; this time she used the powers of the Void Shard to relocate her whole estate into the Void, on a desolate planet she named Yl'ygari. Lina'ven can withstand the atmosphere of the Void, Twisting Nether, and Great Dark Beyond now that she is one with the Void now, but anyone else (that isn't a demon or aberration) would go insane or die on Yl'ygari without protection or special charms Lina created for her Azerothian guests. It requires immense power to teleport to the world, and one would need to know where it is.
  • Later on: one night she had a dream or a vision about Alpia, where she woke up in a spire in the Ghostlands and traveled to Silvermoon. The city was empty, until the city was suddenly burning; and a giant god-like Alpia was chasing Lina through the streets until eventually she caught up to her. The vision put Lina in a panic, seeing her home burning and destroyed by her arch-nemesis. She was confident in the Shard's power, but she was uncertain after seeing Alpia's power in the vision. In Tanaris, she came across a bronze dragon in the form of a thalassian who called himself Silris. He seemed to know of Lina's history with Alpia, and offered to help Lina take her down. He convinced her that her powers weren't enough to beat Alpia, and they needed the help of another artifact they needed to create. While the artifact wouldn't kill Alpia, it would have the power to send her to an alternate timeline, and out of Lina's world, which Lina was reluctantly satisfied with. So over the next several weeks Lina procured the needed materials, until the two met up again. They needed temporal energy for the artifact, so Siliris used his powers to take Lina to different points in time to gather temporal energies. At the end of this, when they were back in Tanaris, Silris revealed who he really was: an adult Infinite Dragon. He put Lina in a timelock, where he explained he was using her in order to create the artifact for Alpia. Before taking off he also took the Shard Scepter.
  • Lina'ven tried devising a plan to get her Scepter back, find Silris, and defeat Alpia once and for all. First off she needed to find SIlris and get her Scepter back. She found out Silris wasn't in the same timeline anymore, and that Alpia has the artifact now. She found a small settlement full of Alpia's cultists and followers, and abducted a family of two (a mother and her child) from the village. She found a way to get back to Yl'ygari where she proceeded to mentally torture and break the family for a week straight, using the insanity of the Void as a tool. She located Alpia and brought the mentally broken family with her. She had a voidlord with her, and after Lina made sure Alpia was watching, the warlock ordered the voidlord execute Alpia's loyal cultist family right before her eyes, demanding that if Alpia didn't take her to where Silris was, she was going to torture and execute the entire village. Alpia was understandably incredibly furious and enraged. So she used the artifact to send Lina to where Silris was to let the dragon punish and kill her.
  • She found her way to Silris's realm, where Lina'ven took on and attacked the adult Infinite Dragon by herself. She didn't have her Scepter to deal with the dragon, but using her own skills, magic and powers as a warlock, and tapping into the Void corruption in her soul - she killed the Infinite Dragon and reclaimed her Scepter. However before the dragon died, he used his powers to drain a significant portion of the Shard's power, before succumbing to it. While the Shard is still powerful, it no longer has the destructive capabilities it once had (balancing the artifact to be strong, but not absurdly OP strong!). Lina returned to the present timeline, where she came face to face with Alpia again. At this point, she started to doubt Alpia could be killed permanently. She remembered a time she thought she killed Alpia before, but she came back. Lina'ven attacked Alpia, and kept up with the powerful drust spirit until eventually she weakened her enough to grab the artifact, and used it to send Alpia to an alternate timeline permanently. With Alpia's final breath before being sent away, she gave Lina'ven an unknown curse, however Lina wasn't aware of it.
  • Returning home, Lina breathed a long sigh of relief, feeling a massive weight gone after what felt like years of conflict with her arch-nemesis. Events that happened around this time: Lina'ven left House Eversun because their interests were no longer aligned, and sometime after she joined a goblin company called Wonderland.Co, where she aided them in security and magic-related work. In the back of her mind, she wondered if she should let her companions know about the still potential threat of Hikarion and Kharn, but that day never came, and sometime later she left the company. She also left the Ren'dorei, feeling like she already repaid their help - and not wanting to be associated with them anymore, to their displeasure. She was still Sin'dorei and had relations with the Horde and Silvermoon, which she didn't want to tarnish by being discovered working with the Void Elves. She continued practicing her warlock magic, and also learning how to control and master the Void Shard, and her inner Void energies. She also frequented Quel'thalas and the Ghostlands, to protect her home against the undead in the Ghostlands like she always has. The officials of Silvermoon know about Lina's use of shadow magic (they don't know the full extent of it, but they have an idea), and they made a deal to let Lina stay a part of the Sin'dorei, in exchange for never going anywhere within a certain radius of the Sunwell, and never step foot on the Isle of Quel'Danas unless approved by the Magisters.
