The Azeroth Calendar here uses the After Dark Portal (ADP) system, where Year 0 marks the Dark Portal’s opening, and Year 20 ADP aligns with the Culling of Stratholme during the Third War. Biography

Ibutsu grew up in Lordaeron around three years before the Third War, to the Delsha family, consisting of his mother (Nora), father (Akai), grandpa (Madoko), aunt (Ahnni), and 2 other siblings (Shiras & Eishiri). The caravan left Vol'dun 8 years prior, after the period of the Second War, because of the dune's hostile landscape and the massive Faithless problem (though not all of the family left, and some got left behind, splitting the caravan into two halves). Akai and Nora didn't want to have their children grow up in that harsh life, or potentially get killed or taken as slaves by the Sethrak, so that's why they left Vol'dun. The Delsha family is a line of spell casters and sorcerers (of draconic origin), though his mother and father rejected Delsha's magical and sorcerous lineage (but eventually wanted to pass it on through Ibutsu). And thus begins the tragedy of the Delsha family.

After the caravan arrived in Lordaeron (they first made a pitstop to Kul Tiras to give birth to Shiras), they settled in Capital City after a period of adjustment, ridicule, and suspicion. The caravan opened up a small shop in the capital that sold traditional food and liquor from Vol'dun for coin (even offering magically enfused drinks from the family's spellcasters, Madoko and Ahnni). Akai joined the Lordaeron guards and military to support the caravan, helping the Alliance round up loose Orcs from after end of the Second War. He was considered an expert and unmatched warrior and swordsman for a Vulpera, without being able to use any magic (with the exception of innate abilities he wasn't able to control from his lineage, and the powers/abilities of warriors). The only other fighter of the family was Madoko, being many decades old and having countless knowledge and skill of the Arcane. Ahnni primarily focused on enchanting, abjuration, and support magic, and she spent a lot of time in Quel'thalas and among the High Elves. Later on, during their last three years, Akai and Nora had Ibutsu and then later Eishiri.

After the scourging of Lordaeron Akai, Madoko, and Ahnni were all killed in the tragedy, forcing the Nora and the three children to leave home, but sadly Shiras (the oldest brother) went missing shortly after. Akai and Madoko were killed protecting Nora and their children's escape from the Capital, and Ahnni was killed in Quel'thalas defending the High Elves.

The three fled to Stormwind and sought refuge there. Ibutsu had to grow up with a single mother in a city far away from their race's home, which was a rough transition at first. His early years were normal and filled with much less tragedy though. He went to school and grew up in the Alliance among humans, elves, dwarves, and eventually draenei, worgen, and pandaren, among others. His mother set up a shop similiar to the business they set up in Capital City, which was a small food and drink shop (especially involving alchohol). The whole family helped ran the shop in Stormwind. She used the income to support her children and save up for Ibutsu's and Eishiri's (the sister) tuition.

His older brother eventually reappeared after they settled in Stormwind, though touched and deep into dark magic, (he had joined a Witch's coven, and inadvertently influenced Ibutsu to want to persue the darker accords of magic -- however Ibutsu wanted to become a mage first and learn arcane magic). The two quickly became very close, and they along with Eishiri hung out frequently to the ultimate displeasure of their mom, because she thought Shiras was a bad influence (because of the dark magic). Shiras began unofficially teaching Ibutsu magic, but only the very basics.

The years went by, and Ibutsu took magic electives in his school and destined himself to be a mage. Things eventually took a turn for the worse when Shiras completely vanished again shortly after the beginning of WotLK (never to be found again), and his mother was killed by Deathwing's attack on Stormwind, leaving him homeless and to fend for himself with his younger sister. This was where he sought out the dark arts, started by the darkest time of his life with the death of his mother (his only still living parent before this point). He was a complete mental wreck, even causing some trouble with the law as well, and everything kept spiraling down, and down, and down...

Ibutsu's Portrait 2 (with AI)

...After about a year went by, he was thankfully found and taken in by a curious night elf, and then later adopted by a high elf magister of the Kirin Tor and her apprentice in Dalaran (Magister Lydine Iceheart, and Suneza, a wild magic battle-mage). After staying in Dalaran for a few short years, he wanted to leave the city to return to Stormwind so he could graduate there. He didn't want to continue the family business unlike his sister (who didn't have any interest in magic), so he continued his magical pursuit and enrolled in the Academy of Arcane Arts and Sciences. But he still kept the skills of the family business he learned.

When he was 17, the Fourth War came around, and the destruction of Teldrassil was widespread throughout the city. Ibutsu was encouraged, despite being the odd one out in the Alliance, to serve and help out in the war. He also wanted to take-out pent-up frustrations from his mother's death and life's cruelties, so he enlisted in the Stormwind Conjurers to fight in the Fourth War. He didn't have much if any combat experience, though he hoped to improve as he went on. And he had a backup if things went south, with his growing knowledge of the dark arts.

In the end he survived the 4th war, and as for the battles he participated in -- he observed the Siege of Lordaeron, helped the Alliance's mission in Kul Tiras, pushed back the Horde in the Battle for Darkshore, and then initially helped in the Zandalari campaign. However after learning what the Alliance did in Vol'dun, he ran away from his unit to help his kind fight against the Faithless and free them from their oppression.

After the war was over and Ibutsu returned home from the rebellion in Durotar, he faced a potential court martial for his "desertion" during the Vol'dun campaign. While the punishment was as high as death, he was pardoned by the King, Anduin Wrynn, for his prior service to the Alliance, and that his motivation for the desertion wasn't to betray the Alliance, it was to protect his people in Vol'dun. And seeing as how Ibutsu didn't harm the Alliance in the process, he was pardoned and allowed to walk free.

He was Honorably Discharged from the military, and soon after he returned to his studies and re-enrolled in the Arcane Academy of Arts and Sciences. While keeping his knowledge, and skills in dark magic a secret from the outside world.
